Logan Family History Expo.

We were packed and ready to go. We had one last stop to make and it was our last stop for the night. We never made it to Logan. We apologize to all of those who were expecting us. Family duty ruled last weekend, and business had to take second. We will be out and about more in the next months so catch us when you can.

Scout A Rama!!

Wow! I have never been to a Scout A Rama beofre! What a great place for scouts! Not such a hot place for scrap bookers. The few peeople we did meet looked relieved to see us. One person said "finally a girl booth!"

Ladies Night Out Bountiful Utah Ace Hardware

We spent Priesthood session out with friends this year at Ace Hardware in Bountiful. I admit my fist thought was Ace Hardware? This Ace is different though, it has a great cooking section and taught all sorts of classes. They also had great food for the taking. Instead of taking our whole line we just took kits and projects. We created a new completed baptism album for little girls just for the show. They were a hit! We will be putting the rest in the store at www.ldsscrap.com. Thanks Ace for having us!

Scrapbook USA Spring 09

We did something out of the ordinary for Scrapbook USA this year. We invited two great friends, Stories By Me and All Occasions Photo, into our booth. We left our original line at home. I know that disappointed some of you, but there was a method to our madness.

Stories By Me is the vendor for our Magnetic Family Trees and the Magnetic Calendar that we have been raving about. We stopped people dead in their tracks as they walked by and saw it. Other people mentioned that it was nice to "see something new and creative". One lady admitted that every booth practically had the same thing when you boiled down to it, but no one had anything like Stories By Me magnetic trees and calendars. Lauri the owner even came down and visited for a while. She was amazed by you...the . "They just drop their stuff and shop?" was her response in the morning. When she stopped by in the afternoon she saw most of you settled at your tables scrapbooking. "I'm amazed." Sometimes I think I take for granted how amazing this community really.

All Occasions Photo is a booth rental company. I convinced Diane the owner to come hang out at Scrapbook USA with us. Her first response was "do you think people will be really interested?" My response was "a bunch of women who are crazy for paper and photos..hello!!" We were a little bit disappointed at how many of you passed the booth and said " I look horrible" or " I don't do photos." This is where we plug the concept of scrapbooking about ourselves. I know you probably have hundred of pages about your family, spouse, vacations, ..I could go on. How many pages do you have about you? I know that Scrapbook USA is a tradition for most of you. I see you year after year. What a great tradition to get a group photo. Those of you who were brave enough to face the booth could not help but giggle the whole time.

 As  for the method to our madness...we are hoping more of you will visit our web site www.ldsscrap.com. There is always so much we leave behind each time we attend Scrapbook USA. We wanted those who just "show shop" to visit our on line store to see what else they are missing. It worked!! But we do plan on bringing our original line back in the fall.

On a personal note. If you saw me at Scrapbook USA and noticed that I looked less than enthused..no worries. I still love my business and the industry. The fact of the matter is that I was sicker than I have been in years. It hit on Wednesday before the show and finally cleared up on April 1st. It was horrible! South Davis Family History Fair

Another weekend, another show. A great chance to meet new people. This show was a one day event at Bountiful High School and is sponsored by several stakes in the Bountiful, UT area. I saw many of the people I had met in St. George the week before.

Stories By Me the creator of our adorable Magnetic Family Tree's and the fabulous new magnetic Calendar was there. We are telling you the magnetic calendar's are HOT! They make the best presents and are great for any occasion. They can sit in a metal stand, hang from pre drilled holes or attach to your fridge with magnets. They are already listed in our store, check them out.

We were also were able to feature the rustic album from K &Co. It looks like the old fashioned albums, with big black pages, but is archival quality. I had many people ask where I had found the "antique" albums. If you have a collection of old pictures to display, this would make a great table book. We sold out of them, but will list them as soon as we get them back in stock.

Family History Expo St. George, Utah

It was our first time at the FHE Expo. They have several across the western United States this year. Our "technical support" aka my husband was up to 12 am the night before the show building a special rack for our truck. This is the first time we have strayed so far from the Salt Lake Valley. I do not mind having racks sticking out of the bed on a 30 mile run to Scrapbook USA, but felt a little uncomfortable having the truck bed door open for a five hour highway trip. 

As soon as I arrived I ran into a great friend and old neighbor Camille. Her Mom is the creator of Vonda's Quilt Frames.If you quilt you have to check out these frames. She helped me unload which is so kind and just like her!

We have met many great people. My biggest customers have been men. MEN. One guys was so excited to see the K&Company Family Tree paper he went and grabbed his friend (another man) and brought him to the booth. I know that sounds a little prejudice, but when honest, scrapbooking is mostly a women's hobby. I am glad to see a little bit of a shift.

The hottest item of the show has been the K&Company Ancestry.com paper and the new Stories By Me Calendar. The calendar is on line now, but we ran out of most of the paper and are waiting to get it back in stock.

 

When we do these shows most of our sight seeing is done in the convention halls. I did take a few pictures of places I hope to see next time I am in town. You can see them in our new photo album Road Trips.

We Want To Come Visit You!

We are hitting the road and we want to come see you! What does that mean? Here are some examples

1. Fly By- We just drop by and introduce ourselves and leave a free make and take for you and your friends.

2. Stay and Crop- We stay and crop. We bring a make and take, and another give and take. The give and take will be another make and take that you will make and LDSscrap will take and donate to charitable events in our community.

3. Custom Crop- Have a wedding coming up, baby blessing, or a missionary in the field? We will still bring a make and take but we will also set up a custom crop for you and your friends. We can make bridesmaids presents for the bride, or crank out 100 baby blessing announcements. We can do several kinds of missionary pages that will fit in one book.

4. Enrichment, Souper Saturdays, Young Women, Firesides- Let us know how we can help you in your current activities. We believe strongly in education. We love to share with others the importance of journaling, scrapbooking, and family history. We can customize Souper Saturday or Young Women activities and offer discounts for church sponsored events.

What is required of you? Let us know where your crop is, when, and how many people will be attending. No crop to big or small, and if you are out of the area we will do a crop in the box*. The only other thing you have to do is...

1. Fly By- Is still just a fly by, no other requirements.

2. Stay and Crop- We will bring our lap top so people can browse our on-line store during the crop. All orders placed at the crop will be dropped back or mailed to you. No shipping charges**. We will also have prizes and special promotions just for your crop.

3. Custom Crop- We will do everything from the stay and crop and also do a custom project. This requires a custom price and it will be based on the amount of people and the project you choose. You will have final approval of your project, or you can create your own with our materials. You will be required to cover the cost of the goods for your project.

4. Church Events- Let us know when your activity is, what it is and who you plan on attending. Let us know your goals for the activity and we will work it out all while trying to stay with in your (the ward) budget.
